Patriots Place

On Wednesday July 6th we went to Patriots Place in Foxboro, MA.  While we were there we went on a Spy Adventure, the espionage tour.   At first some of us were scared, but by the end we all had fun. After our adventure we walked around and did some shopping.  We hope you enjoy these photos from our trip!

Summer is here!

Our fun filled summer has started! Last week we had our first field trip, we traveled to Rhode Island to see the Newport Mansions.  Later on in the week we spent some time poolside! Check out our class of swimmers!

Green Thumbs

This spring the students planted nasturtium seeds in pots.  They did very well sequencing the steps to this activity.  Their plants were placed in a sunny window and watered faithfully.  They should bloom by the end of July.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Lunch at Buca di Beppo

We recently had a nice lunch at Buca di Beppo in Lexington, which has family style dining.  Before the trip, the students made food choices.  We graphed the results to see the class favorites and to help us know what to order.

Fire Station

Recently, the students took a tour of Lexington’s Fire House.  The fire fighters graciously shared information about their equipment, trucks and ambulance with the students.  They also demonstrated emergency procedures and let the students try on equipment.  Here are some fun pics of the trip.

Friendly’s

Spring is supposed to be in the air, so it is time to get out and experience more outside of the classroom.  We recently took a trip to Friendly’s.  The students and staff had a great time, as you can tell by our faces.

Fire Safety

We have recently begun a fire safety unit.  Yesterday, we role played what to do when you hear a fire alarm or smoke detector.  Sure enough, that afternoon the real fire alarm went off.  I guess we should have role played winning the lottery.  Anyway, as I was looking for various activities that incorporate what to do when we hear a smoke detector, what are fire dangers, planning an escape route, etc., I came across a number of great interactive fire safety websites.  The students have started to access them in school, but it would also be a great activity to do at home.  After vacation the students will be asked to fill out a home fire evacuation plan for homework.  Here are the links to some good web sites:

Emotions

During Social Group, the students have been working on identifying their feelings with regard to specific situations.  You may be happy at a party, worried when you have no lunch money, frustrated with a schedule change and sad when you miss someone.  To promote carry over, have students identify these feelings as they are happening.
